Pee Machine

Okay, this is sort of an embarrassing parenting story but I can't help but post it. I was changing Hunter into his pajamas tonight and noticed that he was getting a little bit of a diaper rash. I pulled out my handy dandy "butt cream" and got ready to apply it... (I'm sure you know where this is going...) I only had him uncovered for a second but he started peeing all over himself! My first reaction was to scream but them I realized that I needed to cover this kid up! He got it all over his chest but luckily, not on his face. He was laughing because I'm sure my reaction was pretty funny.

Josh and I were about to eat, so I decided to just put him back in his day clothes and I'd give him a bath after we ate (I had him stripped down to his diaper when the "incident" happened). He still needed "butt cream" and I never did get any on him because of all of the peeing. So, I told him, "Okay, mommy needs to put some butt cream on, so don't pee again." I uncover him for a second and what does he do?!? Pees AGAIN! But this time, pees all over his chest AND his face! I screamed again and just shook my head while he laughed...

I've now come to the conclusion that this is one of the reasons why men's pee is sterile...

Wicked!

Okay, I usually only write about what's going on with Hunter on this blog but I couldn't resist sharing my fun experience... I went to Wicked last night!!! It was so fun and so awesome! I saw it on Broadway a couple of years ago and loved it, so when I found out it was coming here, I HAD to see it again! So, yes, I know I'm a little spoiled because I've seen it twice, where most people haven't seen it at all!!! :P For those who have, my favorite part has to be the whole "Popular" sequence... Glinda is SOOOO hilarious! I love it! :D

Mr. Rollie Pollie

I figured that since Hunter can roll from his stomach to back now, that he would be able to roll across the room... if encouraged. Well, yesterday I experimented my theory and Hunter proved me right! I sat across the room with one of his toys and told him to "come get mommy." He knew exactly what to do and rolled himself across the room and got the toy! I went to the other side of the room and he rolled to me again! It was so fun!

So, rolling is now his favorite thing to do. He is so smart and can roll his way to just about anywhere that he wants to go. While I was folding clothes today, I let him roll around in his room. Well, he thought that underneath his crib looked interesting, so that's where he rolled to! It was so funny! (I included the pics of it to give everyone a visual interpretation... :D )

Real Food!

I forgot to post this last week... At Hunter's 6 month appointment, the doctor gave me the okay to give Hunter baby food - veggies first. So on April 6th, Hunter had his first taste of real food - sweet potatoes! Now, if I was a baby, that would NOT be my first choice of foods to try but I figured those were the most mild out of all of my choices. He made some pretty funny faces with the first few bites but after that, he continued to open his mouth for more, so I guess he didn't think they were too bad. Above is a pic of his first bite...

After a few days, I introduced peas to him. He made some funny faces with those too but still continued to let me put them in his mouth - just like he did with the sweet potatoes.

And yesterday, I introduced carrots. No funny faces this time - just grunts for more! I thought that he liked the sweet potatoes and peas, but after seeing his reaction to carrots, I know he definitely prefers carrots over the others! He ended up eating the ENTIRE thing of carrots in that first sitting! He liked the carrots so much, that he decided to smear them all over his head! And of course I documented it...

Lots of milestones!

Hunter finally figured out how to roll from his stomach to his back on Wednesday! We were over at my friend Shelbi's house and he was just playing on the floor and decided that he would just roll over! There was no struggle... he just leaned to one side and that was it! I think he surprised himself!

Also, Hunter sat on his own yesterday! He only did it for a few seconds but he still did it! He hasn't quite figured out how to keep his balance, so we'll work on that in the coming weeks. He's so funny though because he kind of made a game of sitting. I sit behind him and put him in the sitting position. For some reason, he thinks it's fun to just throw himself backwards, so he falls over on my lap. That won't really help us to work on his balance while sitting but I guess as long as he thinks it's fun, what can you do? ;)

Doctor's Appt

I took Hunter to the doctor on Friday for his 6 month appointment. He weighs 15 1/2 lbs! He is in the 15th percentile for his weight, 34th for his height and... 45th for his head. The doctor said that he kinda had a big head but he still has good proportions! :P

The doc started to tell me about how at his age, he would maybe start to get stranger anxiety. About 10 seconds later, when the doc started to touch him, he got the saddest little face and started to cry. The doctor made a joke of it and said, "Oh, Hunter, you don't have to show me your stranger anxiety!" It was sad, yet kinda funny at the same time...

Ugh, but the shots... He was all smiles before the nurse poked him but after she poked him, he bust out the screaming and tears. I'm just glad that I don't have to take him back for another 3 months!

6 Months Old!

Hunter turned 6 months old today! Time flies by so fast! It seems like just yesterday that I took him home from the hospital and now he is a half of a year old! It's nuts!

He is at such a fun age. He is so aware of everything that goes on around him now and it's fun to watch his reactions to different things.

He is also developing quite the sense of humor! If he's in the right mood, he thinks EVERYTHING is funny! I've noticed that the "right mood" is usually when he is really tired and is pretty much delirious! You can say ANY word to him or make any gesture and he'll just laugh hysterically! I tested the "any" word out the other day and he was laughing at words ranging from "hey" to "Nielson." And on Sunday, Josh was putting a trash bag in the garbage can and when he shook out the bag so he could put it in the can, Hunter thought that was the funniest thing ever! I'm not sure what he thought was funny about it; whether it was the sound or just the motion of him shaking it out but he laughed for like 5 minutes straight! I'll have to try and get him laughing on video because it's hilarious!

He still likes to rolly polly as soon as you set him down on his back and he still doesn't prefer his tummy. It makes it hard because he still hasn't figured out how to roll from his stomach to his back. It will be nice when he figures that out, so when he gets sick of tummy time, he can just roll over! The next milestone I am anticipating is him sitting on his own. He's almost there, so I'm sure he'll figure it out in the coming weeks.

His 6 month check up is tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it because the doctor's office = shots. I'll probably make a post about that experience in the next few days...

Jumper Video

I got a better video of Hunter in his jumper yesterday. I figured I would post it because the other video of him that I took on my phone was less than stellar. He makes some noises in it, so it is better with sound... Enjoy! :D
