Hip Ultrasound

I took Hunter today to have an ultrasound done on his hips. Apparently when a baby is breech, their hips have a chance of not developing correctly. So his pediatrician, as well as the physical therapist, suggested that we have the ultrasound done. The physical therapist even said that Torticollis (the problem with his neck) and problems with infant's hips go hand in hand... weird.

He was so good during the ultrasound... he just sat there and put his little fist in his mouth while the doctor messed with his hips and rubbed that weird gel everywhere. He only cried once during the whole thing but the rest of the time, he just looked at the nurse and the doctor and cooed at them. He even stared at the ultrasound monitor screen to see what was going on.

The doctor said that everything looked great and that his hips were fine. So we are on our way to a healthy little boy! We just need to round out that head now... :P

Physical Therapy

Hunter went to the physical therapist on Monday. She informed me on the details of his condition, Torticollis. Basically, one side of his neck muscles are tight and the other is weak, so it makes his head turn to one side. Since he has been laying on just the one side of his head the past two months, it has made the right side of his head flat...

The physical therapist gave me a bunch of exercises that we need to do to try to strengthen the weak side of his neck and loosen up the tight side. In doing this, we will hopefully straighten out his neck and round out his little head.

He has to go back every week for the next three weeks to see how his progress is going and learn more exercises. But he was really good for the therapist and let her do whatever she wanted to his little neck. He was even smiling and cooing at her! What a good boy!

Great News!

Hunter went to the Neurologist on Thursday to look at his sacral dimple. Originally, we thought that he would need to have an MRI done on it to see if anything weird was going on. When the doctor looked at it, he almost laughed! He said that it was nothing to worry about and that it would get smaller and smaller over time and would just disappear! I asked if we would need to do the MRI still and he said absolutely not. What a relief!

While we were there, I figured that we should have the doctor look at a little lump I found on the side of his neck. He said that the lump would also disappear and was nothing to worry about as well. I thought that it was better to ask than assume it was okay...

Well, one specialist down, one to go... Hunter has an appointment with a physical therapist on Monday to try to fix the flat side of his head. I guess the condition he has is called Torticollis... So I'll let you know how that goes!

Blessing

Hunter was blessed today by Josh. A bunch of our family and friends were able to make it out to the event and it was so great. Hunter was pretty good while he was being blessed... until everyone in the circle started rocking him. He didn't like that so much, so he started to cry (most people didn't hear him, unless they were right next to him, but his mom knows his cry :P ). Josh had to keep himself from laughing, so he had to cut the blessing short. But Josh still did a great job with the short amount of time that Hunter gave him!

Afterwards, we had everyone come over to our house for some breakfast (our church starts at 9 AM... with sacrament first) and it was really yummy! We took lots of pictures to document the special day... and here are some of them!

What a cute little smile!

Hunter's 2 month appointment

Hunter had his 2 month doctor appointment a couple of days ago. He weighs 10 lbs 5 oz! He's filling out nicely!

I completely forgot that they had to give him shots at this appointment, so that was an unpleasant surprise. They let me give him some Tylenol about 15 minutes before the shots, so I think that helped. They gave him one in each thigh and then some vaccine by mouth. He spit out most of the mouth vaccine and when the lady poked his first leg, he took this deep breath to work up for a big cry. His little face turned red and then purple and then he let out a sad cry. Thankfully the nurse poked him right after another, so he didn't have to have that surprise twice.

He fell right asleep as soon as I put him in his car seat and didn't wake up for like 2 hours. When he woke up, he was not happy. He would cry every time I tried to put him down. He was completely fine when I held him, so I guess he just needed some comforting.

I am not looking forward to his next appointment because I think he gets more shots. Poor little guy!

First Thanksgiving

Sorry I haven't posted in a week! Here are the updates on our little guy...

He had his first Thanksgiving at my parents house! He was very good and let his mommy and daddy eat the yummy dinner and waited patiently for his turn. :P

The day after Thanksgiving, we went up to Park City to hang out with Josh's family at the condo they were staying at. Because of sleeping situations, I ended up feeding Hunter in the middle of the night in one of the bathrooms! It wasn't too bad, just interesting... and he thought it was interesting as well! He kept looking around, probably thinking, "Uh, mom, why are you feeding me in here???" We had a great time though.

When we got home yesterday from Park City, he decided that he only wanted to sleep for about an hour... in a 10 hour time frame... and only in like 15 minute intervals. Me and Josh tried everything to get him to go to sleep (the swing, the bouncer, a car ride, etc) and we ended up just putting him in our bed with us to sleep. Not the greatest of habits to start but it was the only thing that would work... and he ended up sleeping for 6 hours that night!

Josh's Birthday & Hunter's sleeping habits...

Yesterday was Josh's birthday and we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse. It was very yummy and Hunter ended up sleeping through all of dinner! He made a few sad faces like he was going to cry during dinner but he never made a peep! He is so good! :) The waitress kept saying how cute he was every time she walked by and I don't blame her! Josh thought that maybe she was just trying to get a better tip, and that may have been some of it, but you can never resist a sleeping baby as cute as Hunter! :D

Hunter gave Josh his first birthday present. He gave him a Jazz beanie to keep his naked head warm in the winter. Hunter thought it was very good looking, so he wanted his daddy to have it... :P

And it looks like Hunter is ready to sleep through the night! Two nights ago, he slept from 10 PM until 5:30 AM! WOW! I can't complain about that!

We had a rough night the other night, where he woke up almost every 2 hours and gave me only 3 1/2 hours of sleep, but other than that, he has been pretty good. I guess he knows that I'm back at work now, so he knows that mommy needs her sleep to get through the day! :P He is so considerate!

Back to work...

I had to go back to work yesterday. I gave myself an hour and a half to get both me and Hunter ready and it wasn't nearly enough time - I ended up being 45 minutes late for work! When I got to my mom's house to pick Hunter up after work, he wouldn't even look at me. I think he was mad that I left him for so long... but I definitely missed hanging out with him all day.

He kept fussing after we got home, even after he had a clean bum and was fed and we figured out that he just wanted me to hold him. That made me feel pretty good that he missed me too! :D

And last night, he ended up sleeping through the night! Hopefully that will keep happening but it may have just been because he had such a weird day... I'll keep you posted on that! :P

The yucky cold...

Little Hunter has a cold! He's all congested and coughs... it is so sad. He's been sick for a couple of days now, so I took him to the doctor today and they pretty much said that there was nothing they could do, so just to let it run its course and keep an eye out for more serious symptoms. I figured as much but they said that they wanted to see him, so I took him...

On the more positive side, he is still a pretty happy baby and smiles a lot! Also, he weighs about 9 pounds now! Getting big! :)

Time with Dad

Here are a few pictures of Hunter and Josh together. There aren't really any pictures of Hunter and me hanging out because someone has to take the pictures! Oh well...

First Day at Church

This picture is actually kinda old but I thought I would post it anyway... We set up a timer on my camera and took a little family picture to document Hunter's first day at church (which was on October 19th). He was such a good boy - he slept through the whole thing!

First Halloween

Here are some pictures from Hunter's first Halloween. We got together with his cousins on my side and took their pictures in their costumes. We set up some "props" in my basement and tried to create a professional Halloween photo... I think we did pretty well with the setup but we couldn't get the kids to look at us all at the same time. So, this picture is the best I got... and little Hunter just slept through the whole thing. :P

Slideshow...

I added a slideshow to the right that includes my favorite pictures of Hunter... so far. I have to say that I LOVE my camera phone because if he is doing something extra cute, I always have my phone close by to snap a picture! Gotta love technology! :)

Quick Update

I have been very naughty and haven't done anything with this blog for over a week... oops!

A quick update on Hunter... we had him weighed last Friday and he weighs 7 lb 6 oz! He gained 1 lb in a week! He's getting so big (well, from what we brought him home as: 5 lb 15 oz)! I swear he has gained another pound since then... with how much he has been eating lately, I wouldn't be surprised if he really has.

I will try to post some more pictures of him later!

Hunter in hospital video

Here is a short video that I made of Hunter's arrival! :D

WELCOME!

Welcome to our blog! Josh and I thought this would be a good way to keep everyone updated on our lives, especially since we've added a new member to our family; Hunter! So, this blog will mostly be dedicated to him, since Josh and I aren't too exciting... :P ENJOY!
