The Jumper pt. 2

Hunter has now mastered his jumper - and it only took him a week! They learn so fast! He can actually chew on this little sun teether thing WHILE jumping now! It kinda scares me but he hasn't hurt himself... yet.

So, he has found his new passion in life - JUMPING! He'll jump even if he isn't in his jumper! If you put him in the standing position, as soon as he feels the ground beneath him, he'll start doing the jumping action! And it doesn't stop there... Josh was bouncing him on his knee the other day and he must have recognized that it was similar to what his jumper felt like, so he start bouncing himself on Josh's knee! I got video of that on my camera, so this video should be better quality than the one before... and it's a lot longer... here it is! :)

The Jumper

Josh put Hunter's jumper together about a month ago but Hunter wasn't able to really use it yet because he wasn't tall enough to reach the floor. I started putting him in it about 2 weeks ago and for the first week, he thought it was okay and would just play with the toys for about 10 minutes. After that, he would get bored with it. But about a week ago, he figured out that he could jump in it!!! He loves it now! It is so cute because he'll just sit there and jump and jump and make himself so tired. So he'll start to whine to get out but he keeps jumping! It's so funny! I guess he hasn't figured out that he doesn't HAVE to jump in it!!! LOL!

I got a little video of him last week going crazy in it, so here it is... (the quality is obviously not very good - being it was taken on my phone...)

Draper Temple Open House

About 2 weeks ago, our family went to the Draper Temple open house. We ended up taking Hunter with us because we thought he would be just fine. Well, everything was going great - he was cooing and grunting and he just loved the temple! Josh kept showing him all of the pictures of Jesus and he was loving every minute of it... until we got towards the end.

I'm not sure if it was because we were walking so slowly or that it was too hot or what, but he just lost it. He started whining and screaming, so we thought maybe he was hungry. So in the middle of the Celestial Room, Josh started to make a bottle. Each family member had a duty - whether it was holding the formula can while Josh scooped out of it or holding the thermos with the water in it - everyone helped out. There wasn't really anywhere to stop to the side to do this, so all of this was happening while we were meandering through the Celestial Room! I bet people thought we were crazy (or possibly disrespectful...)

One of the ushers did say, "hey, we all got to eat, right?" That made me feel a little better about the situation but it was still pretty embarrassing. Josh then got everything all mixed up and got Hunter in the feeding position. I didn't think it could get any worse but then Hunter started choking on the bottle and wouldn't eat it and just started screaming! At that point, it was pretty bad, so we asked one of the ushers if there was any way that we could just leave. They showed us a back way out around all of the people and we got out of there. As soon as we were out of the temple and away from all of the people, he was completely fine.

So, I guess Hunter will be able to say that he is probably the only baby who had a bottle in the Celestial Room at the Draper temple!

Sick... again!

I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I should. Hunter is sick... again! He has been sick 3 times in his short little life! This time hasn't been as bad as the times before but it still is not fun. I wasn't going to take him to the doctor this time because it seemed like it was just a little cold but I called the doctor's office just to tell them his symptoms and they thought he might have an ear infection. So, I took him up there (this was Friday).

When the doctor went to look in his ears, I guess there was a bunch of ear wax in there, so he couldn't see very well (I swear I thought I cleaned better in there! Guess not...) So, the doc made me put Hunter's legs hanging over the table and had me push my hips up against them, so he couldn't move his legs. Then he had me hold his arms to his sides, while the doc held his head, so he could fish out the ear wax with this metal hook thing. I swear, I have NEVER heard him cry like that before! Not with me setting him down when he wants to be held, not with shots - nothing compared to this crying! There were little pools of tears on the paper on the table when he got all done - it was so sad, I about lost it. And after all of that, it turned out that he didn't even have an ear infection! Ugh... well, I guess he might be able to hear better now though without all of that ear wax!

On the way back from the doctor's appointment, I decided that I should use my car wash code that I had gotten about two weeks earlier, because it was about to expire. Hunter was asleep in his car seat, so I thought he would be fine. Well, I was wrong... I got the code all put in and was waiting my turn to go in. All of the sudden, Hunter starts choking on his mucus and just starts wailing. There was no way this kid was going to last through a car wash, especially since he had never been in one before, so who knows if he would have liked all that noise anyways! There was a car behind me, so I ran back to her and said that my little one wasn't going to make it through this car wash, so she could just use my code. She asked if I was sure and I said yes because what else was I supposed to do? So, she backed up and let me out and we went home.

When I told Josh and my mother-in-law that story, they asked if I had taken the lady's car wash code in exchange for mine... nope! I wasn't really thinking clearly, so I didn't even think to ask! DUH! Oh well...
